My Journey as DJ Toons

My Journey as DJ Toons: From a Music-Obsessed Kid to a Global Party DJ

Hey party people, it’s DJ Toons here or djtoonsofficial if you’re searching me up on the internet.

I’ve been asked this a lot lately:
“How did you become a DJ?”
So here’s the full story. And I promise you won’t want to miss it if you don’t know me yet.

It All Started With Music (Not DJ Gear)

I never started DJing because I had a fancy setup or because I wanted to look cool. In fact, I started because music was everything. I grew up in a home where Bollywood songs were always playing, and my first real love was the rhythm, the way a beat can change your whole mood in 3 seconds. I remember recording for the Bal Sargam album with BAPS when I was just a kid. That was the first moment I realised music wasn’t just a hobby… it was a calling.

From then on, I was obsessed with sound. I’d listen to everything from Bollywood to trance like a true teenager-adult, Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, and the electronic legends who made me feel like the world was a dancefloor.

The Leap: From Music Lover to DJ

In 2009, I made the decision that changed everything:

I became a DJ. A DJ who wanted to fuse cultures, blend genres, and make people move, with their feet and with their soul.

I started playing on private parties, gradually on radio stations and eventually became a resident DJ at clubs like Om Valley and Club House Resorts back in the days. Those early days were wild. I was learning live, making mistakes, and still somehow building a sound that people vibed with.

The Sound That Became “Me”

My sets are a mix and I mean a real mix:

  • Bollywood House
  • Deep House
  • Trance
  • Psytrance
  • English Commercial

And yes, I also mix live with djembe and percussion, bringing energy that feels raw and real. More like a performance, than just a DJ set.

Big Moments That Changed Everything

Some moments in my career weren’t just gigs… they were milestones:

  • Winning Best DJ at The War of DJs (four times in Gujarat) from 2014 to 2018
  • Remixing “Jiyo Dil Se” for 94.3 MY FM in 2019
  • Playing for major brands like Smirnoff and UB Group, Gionee Mobiles, and many more national brands.
  • Performing alongside international acts like Astral Projection, Eskimos, and Edward Maya

Each of these moments pushed me to grow and become a DJ, and an artist.

Producing Music: Not Just Playing It

I didn’t want to only perform. I wanted to create.

So I worked on an album with Purple Sky Studio, releasing eight original tracks that reflect the sound I’ve always wanted to make, a fusion of Indian rhythm and electronic intensity. I’ve also had the opportunity to collaborate with artists like Shankar Mahadevan, Vishal-Shekhar, Hard Kaur, Yo Yo Honey Singh, and Arijit Singh which is surreal every time I say it out loud.

Why I DJ

People ask me what DJing means to me.

For me, it’s simple:

DJing is about creating a moment.

A moment where you forget your worries.
A moment where you feel alive.
A moment where you connect with strangers through rhythm.

That’s the power of music.

What’s Next?

I’m still evolving, still experimenting, still chasing that sound that makes your heart beat faster. Whether it’s a club night, a festival set, or a radio show, I’m here to bring energy, emotion, and a sound that feels like a celebration.

Because that’s what music is meant to be.

If you want to connect with me:

You can find me on all major platforms as DJ Toons Official.

And if you’re reading this and thinking…
“I want to feel that energy too”,
just remember: The best parties are the ones where you show up, let go, and trust the music.

See you on the dancefloor.
