Injured, In Paradise: How a Maldives Holiday Turned Into One of My Most Honest DJ Sets
Okay, not every DJ set is recorded in the studio. Some are recorded with a sling on your arm, a bruised emotional state of mind, and a deep house beat playing quietly in your head.
This one happened in the Maldives.
The Slip That Changed the Holiday
I was meant to be on holiday from Jan 26th to Feb 3rd 2022. Barefoot days, ocean blues, switch-off mode. Instead, I slipped on a wet, slippery surface, the kind that humbles you instantly, you know? Next thing I knew, my arm was strapped into a sling, and my body was forced into stillness.
Doctor advised to rest and not strain. But music doesn’t take holidays and neither does my instinct.
When You Can’t Move Much, You Listen More
Think about it, something changes when you’re injured.
You slow down, you stop performing for the world, you start listening inward. Sitting there in the Maldives on a stunning water house watching waves outside, and simultaneously that pain reminding me to be present, I realised something:
This might actually be the perfect moment to record a set.
Recording “Bajate Raho 003”
That’s how “Bajate Raho 003 Bollywood Deep House Podcast (Drive Through Edition)” came to life. Recorded while injured, healing, and letting go of perfection.
It was about flow, emotional pacing, and restraint, something injury forces you to learn very quickly. And that’s how a 59-minute journey was created that feels soothing, honest, and most connected.

Recorded during my Maldives holiday
Live on YouTube
What I love most is how this set travels. Recorded in the Maldives, listened to in the UK, India, Europe and beyond and rooted in Bollywood deep house, but universal in feeling. This is how I’ve always seen music.
The sling eventually came off. The holiday ended.
You really don’t need everything to be okay to create something meaningful.
Sometimes discomfort removes distraction.
Sometimes limitation sharpens taste.
Sometimes the best sets come when you stop trying to impress and start trying to feel.
“Bajate Raho 003” is a timestamp in my journey.
A proof that music moves even when you can’t. Injured or not, on holiday or on stage, eyes open or closed.
That’s the constant.
